Barney's Corner. Since 1893 a tavern and stop over for horse drawn buggys. The robust owner, Barney Burnett, a Locust Valley Fire Department Chief weighing in at 720 pounds was sought after for Barnum and Bailey Circus and was in the Guiness Book of Records as the world's fattest man. Come see the 10 foot belt he wore and historic photos. He died in this very house of appendicitis as he was too heavy to operate on. The had to cut a hole in the wall to remove him from the house and was carried away in a farm wagon. There have been many owners since then, but the proprietors are now Mitchell and Deborah Hauser since 1995.
