Baxter Avenue Church began in 1937 as a mission to the Irish and Phoenix Hill neighborhoods of Louisville, KY. It has existed as a presence for Christ to these neighborhoods ever since. The location of the church is actually the original location of Louisville's historic Phoenix Hill Tavern.
Through the years the church has experienced times of prosperity and times of great decline. Not long ago the church experienced such hard times that it considered closing its doors, however by the grace of God the church persevered through its darkest days. We are now experiencing an exciting time of rebirth and a time of new beginnings to continue as a mission to our community.
Today we are a growing congregation of mere 'sinners saved by grace' who want others to know the grace we have experienced through faith in Jesus Christ. We are committed to studying the Bible, loving God, loving one another, and loving our community.
