More about Bear Ridge Speedway

Bear Ridge Speedway is a 1/4 mile clay track that races weekly on Saturday nights from May-October. The track was built in 1968 by George Barber. When the gates opened Charles Elms II was the pit steward. Four years later Charles Elms purchased the track from Barber. 48 years later the track continues to be owned and operated by an Elms, now in the hands of April May and CV “Butch” Elms.

We are proud to be the “Home of the Coupes”

We are DIRTcar AND USAC sanctioned.

NASCAR greats Carl Edwards competed at the Ridge in the Sportsman Modifieds and Ken Schrader in the DMA Midgets.

General admission is STILL only $10 for adults, $8 for teens & seniors, and $2 for kids under twelve for weekly regular events. Kids under twelve can get in free if they are a member of the Bear Ridge Speedway Kids club (a onetime $5 fee). Special shows (when SCoNE is present) is $13. Free parking and camping! Bear Ridge Speedway is one of the oldest and most successful short tracks in the New England. Located in the hills of Bradford up on a “ridge”, it has long been a fan and driver favorite for almost five decades.

The Ridge is just 3 short miles from I-91 exit 16 in Bradford VT.

The track has five exciting dirt track divisions three of which are nationally sanctioned. The DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds headline the racing program, with the DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes as their number one support division. In addition Bear Ridge Speedway is also sanctioned by USAC for the DMA dirt Midgets who compete on a bi-weekly basis starting on opening night. Limited Late Models and Four Cylinders round out the weekly racing card. Sprint Cars of New England (SCoNE) and the Granite State Mini Sprints also compete throughout the season.

Our infamous start time is 6:00pm(ish) – only delayed if track conditions are not ready. We are also famous for our very own unique “jet dryer” dragged from the woods when needed to get the track ready after a rain delay.
