Bear River Land Conservancy

We are a private, nonprofit organization whose purpose is to facilitate the conservation of private lands in northern Utah. We help create and maintain conservation easements: win-win agreements between a willing seller and a willing buyer of the development rights on the owner’s private property. Easements enable land owners to protect their lands from certain forms of development or use and to preserve important public values, such as agriculture, wildlife habitat, clean water, clean air, or scenic open space.

The job of a land trust is land protection. What we don’t do is advocate on environmental issues, lobby for or against legislation unrelated to providing resources for conservation easements, or participate in debates on specific open space or public recreation projects. Our job is to provide a mechanism to protect private land and offer assistance to landowners who need that tool.
