Renowned orthopaedic surgeons Ralph Salzer, MD, Mark Dean, MD, and Scott Strohmeyer, MD, make up Beaufort and Hilton Head Orthopaedic Sports and Spine. They are committed to the highest quality and comprehensive management of all disorders of the musculoskeletal system. They are dedicated to the concept that all of our patients should be educated in the detail of their disorder and their treatment program.

Ralph Salzer, MD, started the Beaufort-based practice in 1987. Salzer’s surgical interests include rthroscopy of the knee with reconstruction or rotator cuff disorders due to the impingement process. As time has gone on, he has developed a strong interest and expertise in hand surgery, treating a wide variety of hand disorders. Although he was trained to do spine surgery, he focuses on the non-operative conservative management of spine disorders.

Mark T. Dean, M.D. is a board-certified specialist in orthopaedic surgery with a particular expertise in sports medicine and shoulder and knee injuries. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has served as a board member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine Fellowship Exam Committee in Sports Medicine. Additionally, Dean has also served as a team physician for the Denver Broncos, the United States Disabled Ski Team, the United States Pro Ski Tour and the United States Olympic Ski Team.

Scott E. Strohmeyer, M.D. is board certified in orthopaedic surgery, specializing in the evaluation and treatment of adult and pediatric spinal disorders. Dr. Strohmeyer is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and is a member of the North American Spine Society, and the South Carolina Spine Society. He continues to be active with the AO in teaching new advances in spinal care and new surgical techniques.
