Belstra Milling Company

Belstra Milling Co., Inc. (BMC) was founded in 1954 when Albert (Bud) Belstra purchased the small business from his employer Neil Kaper. As the primary custom feed mixer for the livestock and poultry producers, BMC eventually expanded to purchase Bauman Feed Mill and Purina Chows. In 1967 a new feed mill was erected at the current location and the production of “Action Feeds” was born.

Having joined the company in 1975, Bud’s two sons, Tim and Max, purchased the company in 1987. From 1987 through 2000, Tim and Max partnered to lead BMC through many years of great success. With the addition of greater grinding and mixing capabilities plus the influx of swine facilities, BMC was able to triple its feed production capabilities. In 1991 Tim and Max hired Malcolm DeKryger to assist in the swine production and gilt sales. Upon the great loss of Max Belstra in 2000 and Bud Belstra in 2008, Tim Belstra became the sole owner and president BMC.

After expanding ownership of the company to include the employees, BMC has grown to 36 full time employees producing 120,000 tons of complete feed and processing one million bushels of ground corn. BMC works closely with the six Belstra Group pig farms as well as the large dairy farms owned by local families in the Fair Oaks, IN area

In 2013, Tim Belstra stepped down as president to become Chairman of the Board and was replaced by Malcolm DeKryger. BMC continues to grow and advance its feed and pig production capabilities and services.

In November of 2014, we also purchased Heinold Feeds in Kouts and Farmersville Pellet Mill in Farmersville, IL.
