Benton County Dial-A-Bus

Dial-A-Bus program has been operating for over 30 years, first under the auspices of the Senior Citizens Council of Benton County, and eventually as a private non-profit organization. It began with one man driving his own vehicle and using his home phone to schedule rides. We have grown to 14 demand-response vehicles and 9 buses. Through our partnerships with Benton County and the City of Corvallis those vehicles are in service daily helping seniors and disabled persons maintain their independent lifestyles, thus, Dial-A-Bus is now an integral part of the Benton County Public Transportation Plan.

As our client base has grown we have expanded our service hours to meet the needs of the community. We now have evening and weekend service, the Corvallis-Albany Connection, the Coast to Valley Express/North by Northwest Connector, and the 99 Express service from Adair Village to Corvallis. Dial-A-Bus serves over 1000 clients and provides more than 6000 rides per month. Our skilled dispatchers run state-of-the-art software to make the most efficient use of our volunteer’s time.

The culture of Dial-A-Bus is one of compassion and commitment and this is revealed daily through the appreciative feedback from our clients and their caregivers as we provide the link between the riders and their work, friends, family and services.

Our program is 90% volunteer based and these volunteer hours are a critical piece for the continuation of this low cost service as well as an important part of our revenue through matched government and private grants. Volunteers serve on our Board of Directors, drive regular or as-needed shifts and provide other services as needed for our operations.

From humble beginnings, Dial-A-Bus has become an intrinsic part of the lives of many of our Benton County neighbors. While we have grown in every year of our existence, we will always strive to maintain the spirit of service to the individual that gave birth to our Agency.
