Berks Lodge #71 Fraternal Order of Police Memorial

Memorial established in 1980 to honor those members of Berks Lodge #71 Fraternal Order of Police who have passed and who served their communities during their careers in law enforcement.

In 2004, the first officer outside of Berks Lodge #71 was added to the Memorial Wall with the death of Reading Police Officer Michael H. Wise who was killed in the line of duty. Members unanimously approved this to honor his sacrifice and honor him.

Unfortunately, in 2006, Reading Police Officer Scott A. Wertz was killed in the line of duty and members unanimously approved adding his name to the Memorial Wall to honor his sacrifice and honor him.

To date, eighteen (18) members of law enforcement have made the ultimate sacrifice serving the Berks County community. Those are members of local, county and state law enforcement.
