Berry Towne Crafts is a group of Artisan Studios where specially trained craftspeople teach the basic skills and techniques of pottery, woodworking, soapmaking, baking and candy making, textiles, candle making, floral arranging and other traditional crafts to individuals with developmental disabilities. The studios have evolved techniques over a period of years that allow participation in each step of the process of creating a quality product by an individual that would otherwise not be capable of independently producing a similar craft.
Working hand in hand with their friends and mentors, each of our resident Artisans creates and expresses from within the context of their individual needs and vision. At Berry Towne Crafts you will find the By Nature Soapworks, making handmade organic soaps, lotions, butters, and balms. The O’Berry Pottery, our pottery studios producing hand thrown high fired stoneware, raku and wood fired pottery. We also operate The Old Log Cabin Mercantile, where we create our world famous Carolina Praline Pecans and Sweet n’ Spicy Peanuts plus dozens of other Pecan and Peanut Treats including our FlapDoodle Munchie Mix.
Berry Towne Crafts is located in Goldsboro, North Carolina on the campus of O’Berry Neuro-Medical Center, part of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and a provider of services to people with developmental disabilities. Berry Towne Crafts has created a unique opportunity to showcase the abilities and productive contributions of this special population to the betterment of our community and enhancement of our value as a society.
