Bertie County YMCA

The Bertie County YMCA was founded in 1991 to put Christian principals into practice through programs and activities that build healthy spirit mind and body. The YMCA is dedicated to helping people enrich their lives physically, mentally, socially and spiritually, and to helping them grow as responsible members of the community in which they live. Over the last 5 years the YMCA has provided a clean, safe environment and instruction for adults and children 12 and over for exercise. The YMCA Facility offers a variety of cardio machines, weight resistance machines and free weight space and equipment. Exercise classes are offered in Aerobics, Pilates, Toning, and 4 levels of Yoga. The YMCA also offers a youth basketball program for youth age 5 to 18. Over 50 staff and volunteers support the basketball program. The YMCA contracts with Bertie County Schools to utilize school facilities to accommodate the basketball program. This enables the YMCA to include children from all parts of Bertie County who can not travel to Windsor for practice and games. It is the focus of the YMCA to provide safe, affordable health and fitness activities for adults and children. The YMCA is available to all individuals regardless of ability to pay a membership fee or program fee. The Bertie County YMCA is an independent corporation which operates under the guideline of the YMCA USA.
