More about Beth-el Baptist Church

The passage quoted here is the revelation of the purpose and charge given by Jesus to every believer. Just as sure as it is a charge to every believer, it is certainly a charge to every church, which is a body of believers. The entire existence of the church is simply to fulfill this mandate of God; the GREAT COMMISSION.

Within this passage, Jesus clearly outlines the first aspect of the church’s mission, and that is to reach the lost world with them Gospel of Jesus Christ. Herein lays the basis for the first element of the vision statement “Saving the Sinner.” As a church, we must exhaust every resource in attempting to see lost people come to know Jesus Christ. Each member is responsible for actively participating in taking the message of salvation into this world that so desperately needs it. As we carry this message of salvation, we cannot be selective in who we share it with. We must share the Gospel to all people without regard for any of our differences. (color, culture, etc.)

The next element of the vision is “Sanctifying the Saved.” As we seek to see lost people come to know the saving power of Christ, we must be careful to not just become satisfied with simply seeing people come to Christ. After seeing them get saved, we must begin the process of teaching people how to live for Christ. This is simply making disciples of those who have been delivered. In the Great Commission Jesus says, “Teaching them to observe all things, whatsoever I have commanded you...” Remember the audience that Jesus is talking to. As He talks with these disciples, He tells them to teach others all the things that I have taught you. We have been charged to teach others how to walk with Jesus as we are walking with Him. This is teaching people how to live a live separate, or set apart, from the ungodliness of this world.

The final element of the vision is “Striving for the Savior.” To strive for something is to give your best effort to reach that goal. As Christians, our best effort should be given to glorify the name of Jesus in everything that we do. Therefore, the vision that God has given for this church is to “Strive for the Savior” in all that we do. No matter what it is, let us do it for the glory of God. Each day of our lives, we should strive to see our God be glorified. I Corinthians 10:31 teaches, “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
and Striving for the Savior.”
