While we encourage everyone to share thoughts and opinions on our social media page(s), we expect that this will be done in a respectful manner.

The City of Bethany does not agree with or endorse every comment that individuals post on our pages. Our goal is to share ideas and information with as many individuals as possible.

Please note that a comment will be deleted if it contains:

Hate speech;
Profane, obscene or vulgar language or content;
Use of harassing language or tone;
Nudity in profile pictures;
Defamation to a person or people;
Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, national origin, physical or mental disability or sexual orientation;
Name calling and/or personal attacks;
Comments whose main purpose are to sell a product;
Comments not topically related to the particular content being commented upon;
Comments that infringe on copyrights;
Spam comments, such as the same comment posted repeatedly on a profile;
Incorrect or misleading information;
Conduct or encouragement of illegal activity;
Information that may tend to compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems;
Content that violates a legal ownership interest of any other party;
Promotion or opposition of any person campaigning for election to a political office or promoting or opposing any ballot proposition;
Disclosure of information which an agency and its employees are required to keep confidential by law or regulation; and
Other comments that the City of Bethany deems inappropriate.
All links posted as comments on City of Bethany posts will be reviewed and may be deleted.

Repeated violations of this comment policy may cause the author to be blocked from the City of Bethany's social media profile(s).

We understand that social media is a 24/7 medium; however, our moderation capabilities are not. We may not see every inappropriate comment right away, and we are trusting in the maturity of our community to ignore personal attacks and negative speech or respond politely.
