Bethany Lutheran Church, founded in 1869, is a fellowship of believers united to worship the triune God and be nurtured in Word and Sacrament. Thus empowered by the Holy Spirit, we are sent to share the Good News of salvation and to serve those in physical or spiritual need. We witness to the importance of regular worship. We praise God for the special gifts of music and a beautiful old sanctuary. We encourage family and personal devotions, Bible reading and prayer. Fostering a deep appreciation for those who have kept the faith, we provide Christian education for all ages, and especially encourage our youth to continue in the faith. Though we appreciate and preserve our Swedish Lutheran heritage, we strive for a spirit of inclusiveness in today's community - visitors, new members, minorities, Bethany College, Bethany Home, the unchurched and other denominations. It is further our purpose to seek out opportunities to serve and to provide organization, leadership, facilities and funds for the above. In partnership with the ELCA we will grow in knowledge, love and service. - Adopted January 20, 1988.
