This is such a great question. There are many highly trained Massage Therapists out there. I know that for me it’s not just about the training and the technical expertise – it’s about the heart I bring to the work.

My life experience provides me with a special outlook and deep internal motivation because I understand physical pain and suffering in a very personal way. This helps me connect to you and your situation and bring my best and strongest intention to your healing.

When I was nine years old I was diagnosed with congenital hip dysplasia. Because of this I spent the next six years in and out of Boston Children's Hospital. I had multiple hip operations where they actually broken down, altered and repaired my body over and over again. My first surgery left me in a body cast for months. I had to be home schooled and privately tutored to make it through school and stay on grade level with my class. I can’t think of this period of my life without remembering the suffering and hardship this was for me and my family.

I think it was during High School that I first realized I wanted to become a physical therapist or massage therapist. My own experience gave me this deep empathy for people who struggle physically. The thought of being able to help them heal and recover their lives – it just felt like what I wanted to spend my life doing.

But…life doesn’t always go in straight lines. I ended up taking a long detour. By the spring of 2006, I had spent almost 10 years working in public affairs, community relations and human resources. Even though it took me on a roundabout way, I know now that this was valuable experience. I learned a lot about the business world, community and balancing business and human needs. Not to mention a few years of tough life experience.

Things clicked after my first child was born. At that point I decided it was time to finally follow my dream and become a body worker. It was time to do what I really feel that I was made for.

I now have years of experience in the medical field – both on the patient side and on the service side. I have learned firsthand and through my clients how complex and layered an individual's challenges can be. At times you may need support from many different areas – both natural and conventional. The important things is that each individual's health care path is unique and all their own. My primary focus is on therapeutic and rehabilitative massage therapy services I am always happy to consult with other healthcare professionals to coordinate your care. It’s about you and what you need, not about professional territory.

My expectation of my role in a person's path is to make a difference. My joy is in helping you find supportive and productive ways to help you heal your whole body and relieve you of the discomfort and pain. It’s that simple.
