Bicycle Safety Town

Bicycle Safety Town was constructed in 1966 with the assistance of a grant from the Forest Park Foundation. The Peoria Park District assumed ownership in the mid-70's and began offering bicycle safety education programs to school groups, which continues today.

The track sits on 2.91 acres and consists of 3,961 lineal feet of curves, one-way streets, a four-lane divided highway, traffic signals, an overpass, ramps and over 70 various traffic signs.

The facility is open daily during daylight hours and is free of charge. The track is closed during safety education programs. Closures can be found on the Peoria Park District website (www.peoriaparks.org).

Helmets are REQUIRED by all who ride on the track. We do not allow scooters, skateboards, or anything battery-powered.

A family restroom, picnic shelter, toddler sized playground, access to the Rock Island Greenway, maintenance station, and covered seating area are all on site. The shelter is available to rent for $25.00 per hour. Reservations can be made at 309-682-6684.
