Big Basin Redwoods State Park

Big Basin Redwoods State Park is California's oldest state park and features old growth redwood forest, multiple waterfalls, and over 80 miles of hiking trails. The park extends from the Santa Cruz Mountains all the way down to the Pacific Ocean and can connect to many other state and county parks in the area via hiking trails.

Camping-
Big Basin has six campgrounds, including two group camps. Huckleberry Campground and Sequoia group camp stay open year round. Visiting-
Besides hiking trails, the day use sections of Big Basin contain beautiful picnic areas, two museums and a self guided, half mile walk along the gorgeous Redwood Trail. Be sure to stop by headquarters to pick up a trail map and pay the $10 parking fee. The park is open for day use from sunrise until sunset every day.

Bicycling-
Bicycles are allowed on fire roads and there are two designated bike campsites. There is no single track mountain biking in Big Basin.

Dogs-
Dogs are permitted in the campgrounds, picnic areas and on paved roads. To protect the forest and wildlife in Big Basin, dogs are not allowed on any trails.

Skyline to the Sea-
Skyline to the Sea trail extends from the Santa Cruz Mountains down to Waddell Beach and passes through Big Basin. The backpacking season for the trail camps along this route is from May 1st through October 31st. Space at the trail camps is available by reservation only.
