Big Bear Drive In closed back in 1974. There is a movement to re-open it. It will take considerable community support to make this happen. The creator of this page believes it will make a great tourist attraction as it would be the highest drive in theater in operation in the United States. New High Definition projector, new screen and FM sound broadcasting are all in the proposal. In addition, the property, once renovated, could be used for a variety of events such as summer concerts, fairs, fundraisers, art shows, maybe even a flea market or outdoor crafts market. Due to the high visibility of the drive in on the drive in, it will give tourists something to talk about right when they get here.
