Big Hair Animal Rescue (BHAR) was founded in 2015 by two passionate women committed to the mission of improving the lives of forgotten shelter cats and dogs.

BHAR is a 501c3 foster-based, non breed-specific rescue based out of Northern Connecticut and Central Massachusetts. We rely on the generosity of volunteers and donors like you to provide medical care, training, and nurturing to dogs and cats in need or at risk of euthanasia.
Thousands of adoptable shelter pets are euthanized every day in the US; BHAR is committed to helping one shelter pet at a time and placing them in loving homes. Please help us make a difference for the forgotten ones that no one has come for by volunteering, fostering, adopting, or donating.
