BijouCompany

Bijou is French for jewel. This word first came into my vocabulary as far back as I can remember, it was the name of my Mom's Pomeranian who lived with my Grandma Helen because he hated my Dad. Then as a teenager my Mom had 2 Pom's that bread and I kept one of the puppies and named him Bijou II. He passed away when my now 13 year old son was very young, however bijou has remained a household word. In 2012 my Mom, Teresa, was diagnosed with breast cancer. I'm proud to say that she fought a hard battle and was declared cancer free in 2013. However in December of 2015 my Mom's cancer came back, stage 4 metastasized to all of her bones. My son and I were lucky enough to have her live with us the last year of her life. During this year she encouraged me to do what I wanted to do, what would make me happy, as she had my whole life, and that was to create, in this instance create jewelry. So I delved in, I ordered kits, tools, beads, pendants, you name it, I ordered it, even if I didn't know what to do with it. We sat here in the living room, me on the couch surrounded by my organized chaos, my Mom in her recliner dozing off because of her pain medication. She would get so excited at every piece of jewelry I would make. She loved every piece, she had something encouraging and wonderful to say about every piece, and would tell me how much she wanted every piece for herself. This store and this jewelry exists because of and for her. She is my inspiration every single day, and I am so proud to share it with you.
