More about Bilberry Creek Farms

Bilberry Creek Farms was established in 2013, owned and operated by Roy and Jenie Bilberry. Blessed with 4 sons, they wanted to ditch the fast paced hustle bustle of subdivision living to provide their family with the small town country lifestyle. Jenie and Roy had always loved the peacefulness of East Texas. With its abundance of tall pines, widlife and quaint community feel, they were drawn to Canton, Texas. As the home to First Monday Trade Days (one of the largest flea markets in the country), Canton provides seclusion from the city life congestion but yet a short commute to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

Once, it was decided on the area they wanted to start the next chapter to their life, Jenie and Roy began searching for properties in and around Canton. They knew that they wanted enough land where they could all experience life on the farm. A place where their boys could be boys, play in the dirt, ride ATVs, learn to hunt and raise animals. After 5 years of searching every piece of available property in Van Zandt and Kaufman county, Jenie and Roy found 45 acres with an older farm house for sale. They immediately scheduled a viewing of the property the following weekend. It was not your normal house showing though since the most important part to the Bilberrys was the land rather than the house. Arrangements were made to borrow 3 ATVs so that Jenie and Roy along with their realtor could explore the entire property. Their realtor admitted that it was a first for him getting to ride an ATV to show a client their potential new purchase. After about 30 minutes of dodging trees and several close calls of almost ending up in the creeks, Roy had already determined that this was the perfect place to start their new adventure. Over the next few days, Jenie and Roy didn't really discuss their thoughts on the property too much other than that they both liked it. However on the 4th day after viewing the small farm in East Texas, Jenie came to Roy and said these words, "I want that land, that home...... I want to raise our boys on that farm. We need to do whatever it takes to make it happen." Hearing those words from his wife was exactly what Roy was waiting on. He didn't want to pressure his wife into uprooting their family and purchasing a farm that she wasn't 100% in love with. It was now time to execute the plan that Jenie and Roy had been working towards for the last 5 years.

The first step was to get their current home on the market which was done the following day. Much to their surprise, two viewings were scheduled the same afternoon that their home was listed. Three days later, Jenie and Roy recieved a call from their realtor letting them know that there was already an offer made by the family who were the second viewers that first day. After working out the final details, a closing date was set. The time had come to put in their offer on the farm. Jenie and Roy went back and forth a few times with the seller which ended with an offer and contract on the farm that both parties were pleased with. A few weeks later, the Bilberrys had purchased their new farm.

A few months after getting settled in, the Bilberrys began looking to expand their family with a new Labrador Retriever. Jenie and Roy had heard of and seen pictures of Silver Labs but had not yet seen one in person. They began researching breeders around the country. After countless hours of reviewing websites and talking with breeders of Silver Labs, they had narrowed their search down to two breeders. Jenie and Roy discussed it with their boys and they all decided to buy a male Silver Lab from one breeder and a Female Silver Lab from the other. And from there, the real adventure began. When the Bilberry family first saw Woody, their soon to be new Silver Lab pup, they fell in love immediately. Having yellow, black and chocolate labs growing up, Roy was very familiar with the Labrador breed but the beauty of the Silver Lab was almost unbelievable.

The goal here at Bilberry Creek Farms is to continue improving upon the already majestic Labrador Retriever breed. Jenie and Roy are always available to answer any questions you have prior to purchase or anytime after you take your new puppy home. They love receiving pictures, videos and updates on all of their four legged extended BCF family.
