Billy Tackett Studios Gallery

With beginnings in rural Kentucky, Billy Tackett began his professional art career over 25 years ago when he opened his own sign company fresh out of high school. From there he explored the world of illustration where over 200 of his works were published as various book covers, illustrations, album covers, etc. It was during this time that Billy painted his signature oil piece, Zombie Sam, which garnered much attention and solidified his status as a leader in the world's zombie movement. This reputation led to multiple invites to the horror and science fiction genres leading conventions and events as a fan favorite.
During this same time Billy also began dabbling in fine art and honing his “splatter art” technique behind the scenes, painting florals and landscapes. In 2013, he renewed his interest in fine art and begin “splattering” again, pushing the limits of the medium by painting portraits and famous landmarks.
In addition to his daily ink drawings, he continues to create art using his fascinating “splatter” technique and shares it with his fans via live art demonstrations and art exhibits throughout the United States. Billy and his wife, Heather, recently renovated the old Florence Hotel in Florence, Kentucky and his studio is now open for visitors by appointment.
