Black Hills Playhouse

The Black Hills Playhouse occupied buildings at Camp Lodge which were constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1934. The current, air-conditioned, theater was built in 1955 and upgraded in 2008 and 2011. New Dormitories for its theatrical company were built between 1979 and 1982, with rooms renovated in 2012, 2013 & 2014. Additional buildings were added in 2005, 2007, 2011, 2012 and 2013 to the campus. The playhouse is managed by Black Hills Playhouse, Inc and affiliated with the University of South Dakota College of Fine Arts. It is one of the oldest continuously operated summer stock theaters in America.
