As of June 2012, we were no longer known as The Maronite Community of Aliquippa. At that time, we were elevated from a community to a mission – the last step before we become a full-fledged parish!
Our new name, granted by our Bishop Gregory Mansour, is Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Maronite Catholic Mission!
Needless to say, we are overjoyed at this recent news, and we hope that you share in our excitement about our new status.
But more than that, we have been given a beautiful and very fitting example to guide us.
In her life, Mother Teresa walked a Simple Path – as she put it – by not doing great things, but by doing small things with great Love, and in many ways this has been our path too.
From our very humble beginnings of having an occasional weekend Liturgy – to now, where we are just 1 step away from being our own parish, We have been led along our way by the help of the priests who have served our Community – Father David Michael, Father Jim Root, Father Claude Franklin, Father Rodolph Wakim, and Father Simon Elhajj, and now currently, Father Antoine Kairouz.
Now moving forward we have the wisdom and love of mother Teresa to guide us. We still have a path to walk, and as she showed us, we will take to this road joyfully and prayerfully, without being burdened by any past or overly worried by the future, - or as she put it, "Yesterday is gone, tomorrow has not yet come, we only have today; let us begin."
