Bloomingail's Consignment - voted Best Consignment Shop in Brunswick County 6 years in a row. People have often asked me how did we accomplish this honor, in other words, what makes us the best?

Well, it all started with Christmas Trees. That's right, Christmas Trees. Many years ago I was a divorced mother of 3 with no child support struggling to make ends meet. At Christmas time, I would ride by the Christmas tree lots where their prices were way over my budget, and I could never afford to buy one of those beautiful trees. After Christmas when I rode by the same lots, there were still so many trees left unsold. I often thought if these were my trees, I would sell each one for $5, therefore selling all the trees and then everyone could have a beautiful tree.

After working part-time in a consignment shop in North Myrtle Beach, I decided to open my own shop here in Brunswick County, using that same concept I had about Christmas trees. I pride myself on having the best merchandise, pricing it where everyone can afford to shop here.

Today, there are still many women in the same situation as I was back then, unable to pay the bills and take care of the children and have anything left over for themselves. Women everywhere want to feel good about themselves. Sometimes all it takes is a new dress, a pair of shoes or even a different pair of earrings. My goal is to offer my customers an opportunity to shop in a nice store where they can find neat, clean and in-style merchandise at a price that's more than reasonable...a place where every woman can afford nice things.

Bloomingail's has been in business in this area for 16 years. I started out in a very small shop with only a few consignors, mostly my friends and neighbors. Today we occupy a 8,000 sq. ft. building in Calabash with over 6,000 consignors. We take 12 appointments each day allowing the consignor to bring 25 items of clothing (clean, pressed and on hangers) and 25 other items such as shoes, pocketbooks, housewares, home decor, etc. So, if you shop at Bloomingails today and don't find anything you like, come back tomorrow, there will be approximately 600 new items on the floor.
