We believe that parenting is the toughest job anyone will ever have! Our Parenting Guidance Center offers free parenting classes and literature to parents and other caretakers of children.

Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) Education
Because Shaken Baby Syndrome is the most preventable form of child abuse, SBS Education has become one of the foundational programs of our agency. Presenters talk to students (fourth grade and above), daycare providers, and other groups about the effects of Shaken Baby Syndrome and how to prevent it.

Child Abuse Prevention & Awareness Month
April is Child Abuse Prevention & Awareness Month, and each year, we distribute 40,000 blue ribbons which state “It shouldn’t hurt to be a child.” We also coordinate an annual Memory Ride and Candlelight Vigil in honor of the children of Texas who died as a result of abuse and neglect during the preceding year. Both of these events increase awareness of child abuse and neglect as well as our agency’s programs and services.

How Can YOU Help?
A. Donate! We receive no state or federal funding and rely solely on proceeds from charitable bingo and private donations to run our agency.
B. Volunteer! We have always been a volunteer-based agency, and we continue to rely on volunteers to assist us in our programs and the day-to-day operations of our agency.
C. Help Spread Our Message! Wear a blue ribbon in April, always report suspected child abuse and neglect, and remind people through your words and deeds that “It shouldn’t hurt to be a child.”
