Blue River Lab Kennels

Blue River Lab Kennels was founded about 20 years ago by my grandfather, Loren Lein. He started to raise English Springers. My grandfather started raising labs with my dad, David Lein. My dad, David Lein, sold one puppy out of the litter, to Carol in Oregon. Then, when David and Carol were talking about shipping the pup to her, she said how her husband had started a Lab blood line and how he was trying to expand the blood line for the Labs. My dad was sharing with her how he and his dad, Loren, had started to get more involved into Duck hunting. So they were looking for a good breeding start to raise Lab's, excelling in Duck hunting and being family friendly. Carol called back the next day and informed David that they were going to send him a month old Yellow Lab puppy, for free, to help expand their breeding line. All they wanted in return was a female Lab pup from the litter. Annie was the start of Blue River Lab Kennels and Abby was the last of my grandfather's litters, with many great Lab's in the years between. Abby is a great all around the house dog, with plenty energy, she is very calm when she needs to be and is an extremely good field dog for hunting and is very responsive. We have since lost my grandfather, Loren Lein, in June of 2012 of Congestive Heart Failure. My grandfather will always be remembered for his unconditional love for dogs, hunting, and the environment. Abby had her last litter in spring 2017, and now Oakley will be having her first litter in 2018!
