Bluestone Tavern and Restaurant

The Bluestone Tavern and Restaurant has a long history in the Town of Saugerties, having been the Blue Stone Country Inn, the Blue Flame and way back when it was a black smith shop.
In its current incarnation, owners George Miller and Kim Matthews, along with their son Johnny Matthews look to fulfill a shared lifelong dream of owning a restaurant. The Bluestone holds a special place in their hearts as it served as the location of their very first date.
George grew up in Saugerties on his family farm, along with brothers Rob and Craig, and sisters Lynn and Lisa. George’s passion for hunting is evident the minute you walk through the door. Many will remember George as the gunsmith behind the Gun Shop, which he ran for many years.
Kim has over twenty years in the real estate business and together with George operate Pine Hollow Estates, a manufactured home community, in Palenville, NY. In her early years, Kim worked in food service at a local hospital which ultimately sparked an interest in cooking. That interest had a profound affect on her son, who also developed a love for cooking.
Johnny, while attending culinary school, worked at a country club and Applebees to gain the knowledge and skills he needed to eventually land a position at Columbia Memorial Hospital. While there, he worked in the cafeteria, provided catering and developed a healthy reputation for his soups, chicken dishes and his now infamous Eggplant Napolean.
Together, George, Kim and Johnny look forward to welcoming old friends and making new ones.
