Bolsa Chica Conservancy

We are very proud to say that with your participation and financial gifts, we were able to reach more than 29,000 people this year through our ongoing educational outreach efforts. We look forward to your continued support in 2013 to the Bolsa Chica Conservancy to ensure that our programs, including the ones listed below, continue to touch our young people, the schools, visitors to this region and the overall restoration of the Wetlands. Our successes include:

• Standards-based wetlands science and marine biology classes and tours, along with hands-on in-the-field activities for 11,459 K-12 and college students.

• Hosted and educated 12,667 visitors of all ages at the Bolsa Chica Interpretive Center.

• Coordinated 3,081 volunteers and over 7,500 hours of volunteer time and talent to support the center and our planned programs.

• Restored more than 100 acres of wetland habitat by removing approximately 30 tons of trash and invasive plants, while also planting and propagating over 1,000 native plants.

• Expanded the Eyes of Nest Sites (EONS) program to ensure observation and public outreach on nesting activities of the endangered California Least Tern and threatened Western Snowy Plover 7 days a week.
