Bonham Stables

Mike Bonham is the head trainer at Bonham Stables. He grew up in the hunter/jumper business in a family involved in the Equestrian industry for four generations and has ridden for over fifty years. Mike has been all over the country showing horses and running sales and client based barns, as well as spending time in Europe buying prospects. He is driven and committed to providing students and their mounts with the guidance necessary to bring out their greatest potential. Mike and his students have won hundreds of Hunter and Jumper championships. Notably he trained his daughter Kels Bonham to a win at the USEF Medal Finals in 2009. In Omaha, NE Mike continued his success in the business taking students from the Children’s hunters to the 3’6” Junior Hunter ring, Children’s Jumpers to regional Grand Prix’s and qualifying two students for Medal Finals. Mike now runs his training business at the Lamplight Equestrian Center in Wayne, IL. Mike understands what it takes to achieve success in the Hunter, Jumper and Equitation rings. Mike also has his USEF/USHJA Course Design license; this gives him a unique perspective when training clients.


Lauren McGuire is the assistant trainer and rider at Bonham Stables. Lauren grew up in Rochester, New York and began riding at nine years old. Lauren continued her education at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and is now a graduate of their Equestrian Studies program with a minor in Business Management. She was also an avid competitor on the SCAD IHSA team, which taught her to deal with adversity in the show ring and how to ride under high pressure situations. In her time on the team Lauren placed third at the 2013 IHSA Nationals and was on the 2015 ANRC Champion team. Lauren joined Bonham Stables in July of 2015 and has become an integral part of its daily operations.
