Boy Scout Troop 299 - Meigs, OH

Troop 299 was started in April of 1994 by Greg McCall in Shade, Ohio. The troop has had about 23 Eagle Scouts come from the troop to this day and they have about 14 current scouts. Troop 299's charter church is Hemlock Grove Church in Hemlock Grove, Ohio. The troop has their meetings on Sundays at the scout master's house, they talk about and plan upcoming events and camp outs, play games and always have a snack afterwards. The troop is very active they take part in a lot of scouting events in Meigs County, Ohio as well as some in West Virgina. The troop's home camp that they go to every summer is Camp Arrowhead in Ona, WV. In fact Greg McCall is the aquatics director there. The troop also takes part in the Order of the Arrow in Takhonek Lodge #617. The troop is in the Buckskin Council in the Shawnee District.

In 2010 the troop lost all their stuff in a fire. The church that they were storing it in was burned down and so the troop started asking people to donate stuff to them and since then we have replaced almost everything with the donations people have given them. Since then the church "Hemlock Grove Church" has been Rebuilt!
