SPANISH IMMERSION PROGRAM AT MPPLC
Program Description

The children in our program learn Spanish the same way they learned their mother tongue – by being fully immersed in it. Through music, art, stories, games and play, the children enjoy normal preschool activities in a Spanish Immersion classroom with two native Spanish speaking teachers. Our goal is to open the hearts and minds of all these children to a whole new world of adventure using Spanish as the key.

2K Class: These children are curious, creative, and very imaginative. Everything is new and exciting. They are so busy learning to interact with peers, participating in group activities, creating their own art, enjoying new music, songs and stories that they don’t question why the classroom language is different(Spanish). It’s just another new experience. They will add new words to their vocabulary while discovering that things can have more than one name (English or Spanish) – why not? They will learn that people look different and sound different, but are just as wonderful as everyone else in their world. Our goal is to encourage these children to develop a life-long love of the Spanish language and culture.

3K Class: These children are also curious, creative and very imaginative. However, they know that our class is different and they are ready to dive in. We offer a normal preschool program were the students interact with peers, participate in group activities, create their own arts and crafts, and continue to enjoy new music, songs and stories. Our weekly program takes one theme from circle time, where new vocabulary is introduced, through songs, stories and their art project for the day. They have the opportunity to learn, practice and use the vocabulary in several different settings. We continually use the “old” vocabulary as we introduce the “new”. Our goal is to help the children build a solid foundation in Spanish while encouraging them to develop a life-long love of the Spanish language and culture.

4K Class: These children are confident and comfortable with Spanish being spoken around them. As a Spanish teacher said, it “clicks” for them as they begin to use this amazing language tool. The students participate in group activities, create their own arts and crafts, and continue to enjoy new music, songs and stories. 4K/5K Class: These children have the opportunity to enjoy Spanish through songs, stories, games and other fun activities on Friday afternoons.

GERMAN AFTER-SCHOOL IMMERSION PROGRAM
for children/youth with a working knowledge of German

Program Description

Native German speakers lead this course. The focus of the class will be on spoken German, using a structured curriculum to improve grammar and vocabulary skills. Activities will include written worksheets, games, stories, art and music. The class is designed for children whose German language skills range from a working knowledge to fully competent. The children will have a low-stress, fun environment in which to gain confidence to use and improve their German language skills.

ADULT INSTRUCTION
ESL, German and Spanish

We offer instruction and conversation for individuals or pairs of adults, in corporate or private settings. Some of our students are foreign nationals who have relocated to the area and wish to improve fluency and breadth of English vocabulary. Others are Americans preparing to go abroad that wish to develop their language skills and knowledge of the target culture (German, French, Spanish.) Enquire about a solution tailored to you.
