Rockhurst Farm was purchased in 1992 by Nona and John Hurst and developed as a Treasured Forest, meeting requirements for registration. Early history includes a site of Creek Indian village and a Civil War encampment. The farm is also used as an apiary for research and education to promote awareness to the importance of honey bee pollination. Honey is marketed under the label of Rockhurst Farm and available for purchase for weddings or event favors. The 350 acre farm is also used as a horse facility and limited pasture boarding. Hay production is an important use of the land. Recently the farm serves as a training facility for K9 Specialty Services of Alabama which is a non-profit K9 Search and Rescue team.
