More about Brockville General Hospital

The BGH Charles Street Site offers full acute care services, including emergency and intensive care, medical/surgical care, and the MacLean Maternal Child Unit. Various ambulatory clinics are also available, along with day surgery, ECG, stress testing, radiology, ultrasound, an orthopaedic clinic, the Brockville Cardiovascular Program, the BGH Stroke Clinic, and an Ontario Breast Screening Clinic. The Charles Street Site also provides acute care mental health services, including the Mental Health Crisis Team of Leeds & Grenville, and the Mental Health Inpatient Unit.

The BGH Garden Street Site is home to our Restorative Care program, recognized as a National Lead Practice by Accreditation Canada. It also houses Complex Continuing Care, and Rehabilitation. As well, our Garden Street Site (formerly St. Vincent de Paul Hospital) is the birthplace of the highly successful Brockville and District Hospice Palliative Care Service. For over three decades, this community-supported service has provided full spectrum palliative care and support to families in Leeds and Grenville—almost completely through community fundraising for its services.

As part of acute mental health services for Leeds, Grenville and South Lanark, BGH hosts the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team of Leeds, Grenville & South Lanark in the Front Avenue Resource Centre.

BGH Community Programs are found in the McDougall Building, such as the Assault Response and Care Centre, Early Language Development Services, Infant and Child Development Program, Paediatric Physiotherapy, and Speech Language (including Paediatrics) Services. McDougall also houses the offices and archives of the Alumnae Association of the BGH School of Nursing, which celebrates its 90th year in 2013.

The Brockville General Volunteer Association provides volunteer support throughout the organization, as it has done since 1889. With a membership of over 400 volunteers, it continues to serve the hospital by providing countless hours of service and a very “human” touch to BGH.
