More about Brown Park/ Stella Field

Historic Brown Park/ Stella Field at 15th and U deep in the Heart of South Omaha. With Rosenblatt Stadium gone, this Park is the Premier South Omaha Ball Park, just 1 mile South of where Rosenblatt once stood, where some the finest athletes and S.O.B.'s (South Omaha Boys) played baseball. Stop by soon to see new additions from Rosenblatt, namely, seats, the big round concrete ball to be painted as a baseball and the Joe Doe Statue.
By far the Greatest addition is the Commemorative Plaque from the 1940's that once hung at Rosenblatt, honoring 40 Omaha amateur veteran ballplayers, who went off to WWII and never returned. A suprising name on this plaque is Heisman Trophy winner, Nile Kinnick, who had a very brief and noteworthy athletic career in Omaha before making a name for himself at Iowa. Alan Grove was a back-up to Otto Graham at Northwestern and his Mother wrote a poem in her som's honor and it also has a plaque. In their early to mid-20's, these guys gave their lives for our Freedom and in appreciation, Coach Stella does not charge any veteran to attend a Legion game there.
Over 500 family, friends, ballplayers, veterans, and dignitaries showed up for this Dedication in August of 2011. Check it out when in Omaha and plan on attending the Memorial Day Colin-Orcutt High School All-Star game.
South High and South Legion Post 331 play their games at this Park. Google up Brown Park WWII Plaque Dedication for more info as it's a MUST SEE!
