Brown's Family Daycare, Inc. - Maria Christine & Cory Brown

We started this business in 1998, in order to provide quality, reliable daycare for my own children.

Finding good care for our own children was a source of constant stress and frustration for my husband and me. When our oldest son, Scott was born, we struggled with the whole idea of placing him in care at all. Fortunately, my sister-in law came to the rescue and agreed to watch Scott and her infant daughter Nikki together. We eventually decided to quit our jobs, I was a bookkeeper and the payroll maker of multimillion-dollar Lingerie Company in LA and Cory was a staff Accountant at Bally’s Health and Tennis in Century City. When Scott turns one, Cory joined his parents business and moved to Napa so I can stay home with Scott. A year later our daughter Sarah was born. When Scott was almost four I decided to go back to school part time and put them in Napa Valley College childcare and preschool. At first we invited children to our house to play with them and then one day Scott’s favorite teacher asked me if I would like to watch her granddaughter and I will get paid for it. My own childcare business started and this turned out to be the “best career decision” I’ve made. In 2000 we became a large family daycare and Cory joined with me.

We absolutely love being with children! It is so much more rewarding to watch young children develop and learn while they engage in creative play. There’s nothing quite like the feeling you get when a child gives you a hug and says “I like you”, “I love you”, and” you’re my favorite daycare provider”. Times like this make all the long hours and frustrating moments worth the effort.
