Brynilsen's Viking Village

Brynilsen's Viking Village is a family run resort in the Adirondack Mountains, New York. It was started in the late 1890's by Melzer Aldrich, a retired Rochester postman and beekeeper. It was originally called Camp Monroe. In 1945, my Grandfather, A.E. Brynilsen, purchased the property which consisted of a hotel and a few cabins. Since 1945, the camp has expanded to include 18 housekeeping cabins, a recreation hall, a 150ft dock with 3 attached floating docks and many boat slips. There is a safe sand beach along the 400+ft of shoreline which boasts a one-of-a-kind Viking totem pole overlooking the beauty that is Fourth Lake. It is a camp rich with family history--many guests have been coming year after year--the generations that have called Viking Village "home" is awe inspiring. My Uncle Rolf and my Aunt Jan, have tirelessly run the camp for many years, and it is their love and devotion to this idea that has prompted me to try and keep the camp going.
