The Binghamton University Japanese Association was founded by Yumiko Yamamoto and Toshiko S. Furuta on October 19, 1993 as the first Japanese association chartered under the Asian Student Union as a subgroup.
The Binghamton University Japanese Association (BUJA) is a student-run organization that aims to promote Japanese culture and language to the students of SUNY Binghamton and to the people of the Binghamton community. A club that welcomes students from all backgrounds, our members all share a common interest in Japan. BUJA coordinates various events and activities throughout the year to stimulate closer affiliation between Japanese/Japanese Americans and those who are interested in Japanese culture and to support international students to better adjust to American culture.
