Company History
Buzen (Boo-Zen) - a small town located on the
Island of Kyushu in Japan is where owner,
Yuriko Yamaguchi was born in 1933.
Buzen Restaurant originally opened in the late
70’s as a full dining restaurant in Aptos and was
followed by a smaller sushi bar in downtown
Santa Cruz. Now, after nearly 30 years of
retirement from the food industry and winning
the battle against cancer, Yuriko has reopened
the doors of Buzen with a different
Mission.

Mission and Objectives

Yuriko has utilized her unique talent in creating
gourmet cuisine for today’s fast paced lifestyle.
Her years of experience in the restaurant
industry and her involvement with the local
community has made it easy for Buzen to build a loyal customer base. It is their mission to offer
the best prices and the highest quality Japanese food.
The company is now primarily wholesale
distributing to local specialty markets. The company is striving to be the leader in selling fresh, healthy Japanese food to the public.
This past year, family members joined Yuriko on her mission at her new location at 509 Bay Ave.
in Capitola. This new location has enabled them
to double their sales and production. The concept of Fresh,healthy restaurant quality food has been very well received for its “grab-and-go” convenience for today’s busy life styles. We hope you will consider our product as great addition to your current inventory.
