Calexico Farmers Market Questions and Answers

What are the rules to sell at the farmers market?

1. All vendors must have their own tables, chairs, and tents.
2. All vendors must arrive at 8:00AM to set up their booth.
3. All vendors must have everything ready by 9:30am
4. From 10:00AM to 3:00PM , no vehicles will be allowed inside the farmers market. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
5. All vendors are required to stay until 3:00pm
6. All vendors must clean their areas
7. All vendors must provide their own source of electricity.

What if I am not selling produce? Can I still rent a booth?
Yes, all booth fees vary.
Is there a fee to participate in the farmers market?
Yes, please see the chart below.

Food/Produce vendors FREE
Non-food vendors $10.00 per month
Information (non-commercial) FREE

What if I am not selling anything and would only like to have an informational booth?

Booths that provide information about a community service will not be charged a fee.

What if I want to hand out political propaganda?

You need to be a $500 Sponsor to be allowed to do that. This sponsorship allows you to set up a booth.

Can I bring my own music?

No, since there will be live music at this event. Also, we will be using our own PA system.

Can I use a megaphone to make announcements?

Yes, as long as it does not interfere with the selling of other vendor’s products.

What if I arrive late to the event? Can I still set up?

Yes, but you will not be allowed to bring in a vehicle.

Can I share a booth with someone?

Yes, as long as you stay within the space that has been allocated.

Can I sell prepackage food or prepared food?

Yes, as long as you have a food permit that has been issued by the Imperial County Public Health Department and are following regulations.

**If you do not follow the public health department regulations you will be asked to stop selling**

What if my items are lost or stolen during the event?

Neither the Calexico Farmer’s Market nor the City of Calexico will not be held responsible.

Can I pay using a check or credit card?

The only acceptable forms of payment are cash and check. Payment must be made by the registration deadline.

What if I decide not to sell at the farmers market after I have paid a fee?

All fees are non-refundable.

Can I pay in advance for future farmer’s market events?

Yes, but all booth fees are non-refundable.

If I already have a food permit can I use it for the event?

You need to check in with the Imperial County Public Health Department. If you are able to use your current food permit, you will need to submit proof during the application process.

Can I sell out of my food truck?

Yes, but only if you have a current food permit and make special arrangements.

What if I am under 18 years old?

You will need to come in to register with your parent or guardian.

Do I need to get my own permit or is there another route I can take?

You have the option of working under the Calexico Farmer’s Market food permit.

If you decide to register under the Calexico Farmer’s Market permit you must be an non-profit organization. Private businesses must have their own permit.

Do I have to live in Imperial County to sell at the Farmers Market Event?

No

If I do not have the money to pay for the booth space, is there
any assistance?

No assistance is available at this time.
