More about Calgary Chinatown Art Society 卡加利美術會

Calgary Chinatown Art Society (CCAS) is an art group founded in 1993 by a group of artists educated in art academies in China. They had the vision of carrying forward the fine traditions of Chinese culture and arts and to promote cultural exchanges and developments between China and Canada.
Historically, CCAS members have participated in various arts and cultural activities in the city and has won top awards at the Calgary Stampede. CCAS held the largest painting and photography show during the Calgary Centennial Celebration. Many members conduct art classes and have hosted children and youth art competitions and members’ art auctions. Proceeds have been donated to the Calgary Chinese Elderly Citizens’ Association. Various members have also held solo and group exhibitions through the years.
CCAS holds regular meetings to discuss art and cultural exchanges and plan activities including plein air painting and art shows. CCAS strives to contribute to the arts and culture development in the community.
