Here's a little about our history.
Calvary Missionary Baptist Church came into existence as a result of a 'protracted' meeting by the Reverend A.S. Petrey. During the winter vacation period of 1892, this traveling, early missionary came to a thickly-settled community five miles up the C.V. Railroad from Corbin, Kentucky. Finding only four professing Christians in the community, he decided to hold a revival in a nearby schoolhouse.
Patrick schoolhouse became the scene of ten days of revival meetings, which resulted in 80 professions of faith and baptisms, the organization of 'The United Baptist Church of Christ at Calvary,' and the building of a meetinghouse for services.
As He has done in the past, the Lord continues to bless Calvary Baptist Church. Souls were won then, souls continue to be won today. Calvary Baptist Church continues to have a bright future as a growing concern in God's Kingdom work.
