In 1931, a group of Lutherans in the Thiensville area saw the need for an English speaking church to better serve their changing community. Over eighty years later, Calvary still exists to serve our neighbors with the life-giving and life-changing message of Scripture: God gave his one and only Son to die for our sins, so that we might have new life at peace with Him! Through our regular weekly worship services, our many Bible classes, our fellowship opportunities, our Lutheran elementary school, our support of area Lutheran high schools - through all we do as a Christian congregation - we seek to grow in that message and share it with all who will hear.
We believe that by our own words and actions, each of us has fallen short of the perfection that God demands and we deserve his condemnation. But God in his love sent his own Son, Jesus Christ, into this world to be the savior of all people, that through his suffering, death and resurrection he might pay for the sins of all people. God gives this forgiveness of sins and eternal life to us through faith in his Word.
Our church stands united in faith and practice with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). For a more complete statement of our beliefs, go to “This We Believe”.
