We're on a mission to #breakthecycle of poverty for at-risk youth in Wimberley. Your support to Camp Good Sam changes everything for a child in poverty.
Every summer, socio-economically disadvantaged youth lose 2 to 3 months in reading and math skills, while their middle-income peers actually make slight gains due to their access to libraries, museums, vacations, and enriching activities. By the fifth grade, summer learning loss can leave low-income students 2.5 to 3 years behind their peers, significantly decreasing their likelihood of pursuing a college preparatory path in high school.
Camp Good Sam - Wimberley is a six week summer program that combats summer learning loss in low-income youth living in Hays County; enhancing their health and education while keeping them learning in a rich, curriculum-based environment.
