More about Camp Jeremiah Johnson

Camp Jeremiah Johnson is the camp located closest to the largest population center in the Utah National Parks Council. It is among the oldest camps in the council. It has served the youth of Utah County well for over 40 years. Last year (2013), UNPC camps served over 28,000 total youth, half of those were served. at Camp JJ by itself. Camp JJ is the first experience a scout has at camp in our council.

Camp Jeremiah Johnson has been in existence since before 1966. In February 1966 the Kolob Stake of the LDS Church donated land to the Utah National Parks Council for a Cub Scout Day Camp. The property is mostly mountainous, but lies next to a small meadow owned by Springville City.

In April 1973, the Council entered into a lease agreement with Springville City to use the meadow for cub scouting activities and short-term campsites. At that time, the Camp was named Hobble Creek Scout Camp and was a premier location for quick troop overnighters and Junior Leader Training.

The camp has two large metal pavilions that work great for off season group outings and family reunions. The camp sports a fort façade and the façade of an old west town, but these sets are changed each year for the theme rotations listed in general information.
