Camp Layman

Camp Layman has been a vacation retreat for nearly a century. It features 13 cabins on 3.5 acres of forested property at 4,200 feet of elevation along the Middle Fork of the Feather River. The current owners purchased the camp in 2010 and have restored and upgraded the cabins while keeping their rustic charm intact. The outside of the cabins look just as they did in the 1920s. But the interiors have been remodeled and equipped with modern appliances. All 13 cabins have bathrooms with showers, as well as kitchens with stoves and refrigerators. Cooking utensils and dishes are provided. Many guests use the camp as a relaxing home base when they aren't enjoying the many outdoor recreation activities the area has to offer. The river is just 70 yards from camp. It's just a short 15-minute drive to the Lakes Basin which is home to some of the best hiking and mountain biking in the country. Dozens of fish-stocked lakes can be found in the area. The Feather River is also a popular fishing destination, which is just a short walk from camp. Guests who choose to stay at camp can enjoy a game of shuffleboard, volleyball, badminton, basketball, horseshoes or just sit around the campfire. Forget your fishing pole? No problem. We have several on hand that guests are welcome to borrow. Guests are also welcome to check out board games, books, videos or even inner tubes to float down the river.
