Camp Widewater

Camp Widewater and Retreat Center, located at 4050 US 24, Liberty Center, OH, 43532, is tucked away in northwest Ohio across the Maumee River from historic Grand Rapids. It blends the natural beauty of a rural setting with exciting camp fun. Owned by the people of The United Methodist Church in the West Ohio Conference, the 106 acres of land at Widewater is set aside as a sacred space for playing, learning and living together in Christian community.

Harmony Lodge houses up to 130 campers in heated, carpeted, air-conditioned, and fully accessible comfort. The lodge also includes modern meeting spaces, a spacious dining room overlooking a pond, and a fireside room.

While at Widewater, campers of all faiths and ages will experience wide open play areas with space to stretch their wings, as well as fields, woods, and wetlands with plenty of wildlife. Campers will enjoy and experience God’s natural world and be changed. They’ll take part in a wide range of outdoor activities, including swimming in the pool, canoeing on the Maumee River, archery, sports and field games, and water toys on the pond for anyone who passes a swim test.

Breath-taking sunrises and sunsets inspire incredible worship and set the stage for an overnight “under the stars”. The outdoor Labyrinth or prayer-path is an 8-circuit Chartes design tucked beneath a canopy of shade trees. Stoned paths that improve access for guests using wheelchairs encircle the lodge and lead to the pond, fire pits and the labyrinth, with several “park-and sit” areas.
