The Cape May Lighthouse is both a working lighthouse and a museum of maritime history. Restored, maintained and interpreted by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC), the Lighthouse hosts nearly 100,000 visitors a year who experience a visit to the top, participating in a century old rite of a visit to the Jersey Shore. For those who choose not to climb, the Oil House contains a fully-accessible visitors' orientation center and a Museum Shop stocked with maritime accessories and memorabilia.
