Welcome to the Captain's Quarters Stained Glass Facebook page! Much of my work is displayed and unless otherwise noted, for sale. If a particular item is not a stock item, I can be commissioned (Pricing info below). You get to choose color and design also! Message me know if you would like more info on this.
I started working on Stained Glass in 2007 by taking a class at a small arts and crafts store. I have always loved stained glass and never thought for a minute it would be something that anyone could learn! My background in art started back in grade school. I attended Art Institutes, Inc (remember the "Draw Me" ads?) and continued my art studies in High School. I also took classes in Commercial Art at VA Beach Vo-Tech in my senior year and went on to learn photography and photo processing the following year. And then I became a bookkeeper! ::sigh::
When my husband passed away in 2010 I converted his office / man cave into my Stained Glass Studio. Jon Roop was an avid Sailor all of his life and in his collection of photos and various items, he had a wood sign "Captain's Quarters" which I have adopted for the name of my business.
In addition to selling Stained Glass art and Sun Catchers I also teach Beginner Stained Glass Classes. On average I teach the class two times per week and the course generally runs 8 weeks. Studio time between classes is also available. Classes will be posted as they are scheduled. If you are interested in a class or would like a refresher course, please message me and we can work out the details.
Pricing is always a question - Most items are priced - if not please check my website for more info.
Commissioned items - Stained Glass panels generally run approx. $125.00 per square foot PLUS an additional fee of $1.00 per piece of glass that goes into your piece. (For example - a 12" X 12" piece that has 35 pieces of glass would cost $125.00 plus $35.00 = $160.00. This is a minimum price and variables such as more expensive glass or small intricate cuts could cause price of finished product to be more.
