Captiva

Captiva is a census-designated place in Lee County, Florida, United States. It is located on Captiva Island. As of 2015 the CDP had a total year-round population of 379. It is part of the Cape Coral-Fort Myers, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area.Captiva's many large estates, condominiums, and businesses have recovered from the serious damage due to 2004's Hurricane Charley. There is a toll to use the causeway that goes from Fort Myers to Sanibel Island. Captiva is accessed by a small bridge that crosses Blind Pass from Sanibel Island.GeographyCaptiva is located at .According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 10.5sqmi, of which 1.2sqmi is land and 9.2sqmi is water. mostly in the Gulf of Mexico to the west and Pine Island Sound.DemographicsAs of the census of 2000, there were 379 people, 194 households, and 130 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 305.3 people per square mile (118.0/km²). There were 1,150 housing units at an average density of 926.2/sq mi (358.1/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 98.42% White, 0.79% Asian, 0.26% from other races, and 0.53% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.79% of the population.
