More about CARE Community Center, Inc

CARE Community Center offers the following:

The Root Cellar serves those in need of food assistance and nutrition education. The goal of this program is to provide emergency food assistance to neighbors facing food insecurity as a barrier to self-sufficiency. As part of this effort we provide our neighbors the opportunity to participate in Nutrition Education workshops that teach hands on cooking skills, meal planning, as well as how to shop and prepare healthy meals on a budget.

The Root Cellar @ Charity Pantry is open on Monday from 10am to 2pm.

The Root Cellar @ CARE Pantry is open Monday – Thursday and Saturday 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.. We utilize the neighbor choice model for our pantry. This model has our pantry set up like a small grocery store that neighbors can access once every calendar month. One of our facilitators will assist neighbors to shop and answer any questions he or she might have.

Neighbors will have to supply the following documentation:

State or Federal photo ID (or Photo ID from their Country)

Social Security Cards or ITINs for all family members (Depending on food program)

Proof of residency (Utility bill, lease agreement, rent receipt, etc.)

Proof of previous month income (Check stubs, child support, Social Security, Disability, food stamps, etc.)

CARE Community Giving Garden is a way to demonstrate to our neighbors the benefits and joy of gardening while promoting healthy eating. Our Garden will provide fresh vegetables for our Root Cellar Pantry and Nutrition Education programs. Promoting physical activity, increasing food security for our neighbors, and a positive impact on the environment are just some of the outcomes that will blossom in our CARE Community Giving Garden.
The garden space is being donated by Charity Baptist Church in Rogers. We are currently seeking sponsors to support sections of the garden which will be named for the sponsor. Potential sponsors can select to support an entire growing area or partner with other sponsors for a group section. Our overall goal is to assist our neighbors in need by providing the resources and education to overcome adversity, gain and maintain self-sufficiency and encourage a sustainable lifestyle that includes access to nutritious foods.
Volunteers will be needed throughout the growing season to maintain and harvest.
